The General Secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Dr. Peter Ozo-Eson, yesterday, accused the Assistant Inspector-General of Police Joseph Mbu, of promoting anarchy.
In a statement titled: “Watch this lion” Dr Ozo-Eson fault the arrest, detention and torture of Amaechi Anakwe, a reporter with the Africa Independent Television (AIT), for referring to him as controversial.
Describing Mbu as an embarrassment to the Force, Dr Ozo-Eson said freedom of speech is guaranteed in the constitution. He stressed that the arrest and detention of Anaekwe was an attempt to muscle the press and free speech in a democracy.
