- Gumi Fanning Flames Of War To Eradicate Those He Differs With– IMN
By Saminu Azare
The latest of long term planned attacks on the Islamic Movement in Nigeria by various regimes in Nigerian with the influence of western arrogant powers has left over one thousand followers of Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky died after the Nigerian army laid siege on his residence and other sites on 12 and 13-December-2015. The Massacre has triggered mixed reactions from different part of Nigeria.
The so-called Islamic scholar, who claimed to be emulating the virtues of Prophet Muhammad SAW and propagating his teachings, has embarrassed and exposed himself beyond people’s imagination; instead of condemning the extra-judicial killings of thousand innocents, he went ahead to fan the flames of war, with the intention of eliminating those he hates because of ideological differences.
Dr. Ahmad Gumi, a Wahhabi scholar, addressed journalists on 29-December-2015 that Sheik El-Zakzaky has been operating a parallel government in the North for the past 40 years and that the Islamic Movement does not recognize a corporate entity of Nigeria!
I wonder what does he mean by running a parallel government? Does Sheik Zakzaky have Executive, Legislative and Judiciary? Can someone run a parallel government without law enforcement agency or state Governors? The Movement has only Islamic Centers where all its annual activities are being conducted peacefully, its members work in different organizations in both Private and the public sector.
He also claimed that the late President Shehu Musa Yar’adua had told him of the massive importation of ammunition and weapons to different part of the country and that Yar’adua mentioned Iran as supplier of Arms to the Shi’ite. Dr. has forgotten Islamic movement with Shi’a Ideology, conducts its activities in accordance with the teaching of Islam.
If Dr Gumi turns blind eye to what is happening in the world today he should have mentioned any Shi’ite terrorist group in the world just like Wahhabi has ISIS, Boko Haram, Al-shabab, Al-Qaida and Taliban. With his so-called Wahabi hatrage towards others, Dr Gumi should think before he talks as listeners are not fools.
No wonder the controversial Cleric was condemned by Ijaw Youth Council worldwide (IYC) for trying to pit adherents of the two major religions in the country against each other, after writing an open letter to former President Jonathan urging him not to contest the 2015 general election; he also wrote a similar letter to APC presidential Aspirant General Muhammadu Buhari(rtd) explaining that Jonathan’s victory in 2015 would set the country on another round of turmoil.
IYC claimed Gumi’s letter was deliberately written to prepare ground for a massive attack on Christians in the Northern part of Nigeria, should President Jonathan declared winner of the 2015 Presidential election. The cleric who has being inciting seditious, inflammatory and provocative statement in the multi-religious society like Nigeria is not surprising that he is jubilating following the Killing of Muslims of Islamic Movement in Nigeria. A responsible person would condemn this massacre irrespective of religion or tribe. Indeed, with is stance on this, Dr Gumi does not deserve to be a leader.
Mr. Femi Falana, a famous Lagos lawyer and a human right activist, has condemned the Zaria killings in strongest terms, saying that soldiers and chief of Army staff Tukur Burutai should be prosecuted over the injustice and inhuman treatment meted against innocent defenseless Muslims including women and children.
Falana, a senior advocate of Nigeria, said in a statement: ‘Assuming that the shi’ate members blocked the road, why was the nuisance not reported to police? Are the Authorities of the Nigerian Army above the law of the Land?
Falana recalled the army and police authorities that under a “repressive” Army regime the right of access to prisoners was fought and won.
Former minister of aviation Mr. Femi Fani Kayode has also condemned the killing in Zaria by the Nigerian army, speaking on channeled TV morning show. Fani Kayode cautioned the Nigerian military and the Federal Government over the controversial attack on innocent Muslims faithful inside their Islamic center which began on Saturday, December 12 and continued a few days later with the demolition of structures belonging to the Movement.
He said ‘’ if you continue to kill shi’ite members then you are going to invite disaster in this country. It’s absolutely fundamental that were mass murder is committed by our military or anybody in this country; I think it’s appropriate to sit up and condemn it. It’s absurd that the government has not come out to condemn what happened on that day. These are Nigerian people and they have a right to life.”
Some right thinking Nigerians were really not happy with the atrocities of this government duly elected by Nigerians to protect their lives and property irrespective of their tribes, races, religions or ideological differences. Nigeria, being a multi- religious nation where every average citizen is allowed to practice his believe, it has become immoral, unethical and against the rule of law to deprive anybody from practicing his believe talkless of sporadically shooting on Muslims faithful.
Non Muslims were at the fore front in condemning Zaria massacre, symphatising and calling for the government to institute judicial committee of enquiry to conduct fair investigation into the incident; the great personalities like chief Ayo Orisijafor President Christian association of Nigeria, Former Minister of Aviation Mr. Femi Fani Kayode, Chief Femi Falana (SAN),Mr. Dele Akagameh a columnist and Mr. Joseph Otteh civil Society Director etc.
And at the same time so-called Islamic scholars who claimed to be the Men of God were happy and jubilating as if they don’t value human life. Because of ideological differences, enmities and hostilities towards the expanding and expansion of Islamic movement of Nigeria they have closed their eyes. It is not only Dr Gumi who closed his eyes, scholars like Dr. Abdulrafii Abdulganiyi of darul hadeesel salafi and Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir Chairman council of Ulama JIBWIS also followed suit.
