A Nigerians government sponsored group, ‘Centre for Social Justice Equity and Transparency (CESJET) ,’ has inferred that the Amnesty International director for Nigeria must be a Shia or other radical Muslim.
This in response to a damning report by the AI describing military crimes in the December Zaria massacre captioned, “Unearthing the Truth: Unlawful Killings and Mass Cover-Up in Zaria,” released by the agency imploring Nigeria comes clean on the full scale of the atrocities that left as many as 1000 minority Muslims dead or otherwise missing.
In the not surprisingly widely published media advert the ‘group’ accused Amnesty International of ‘not caring’ about the disdain some northern Wahhabi/Saudi-linked or sponsored Muslims have for Shia Muslims which they insinuated should be a justification for the massacre and secret burial of these victims.
The ‘group’ further called for the probe of Amnesty’s Nigerian director, picking on his Zaria education. The group said of the Amnesty director the following, as relayed by government and corporate media:
“The group however called for the probe of the Country director of Amnesty International, Mohammed .K. Ibrahim, the Kano State- born, but Zaria educated erstwhile career diplomat who was an official of the (OIC) Organisation of Islamic Conference and a diplomat in Libya to determine if he had affiliations to Islamic fundamentalism.”
