The Senator representing Adamawa South, Alhaji Ahmed Barata, who announced his return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was embarrassed yesterday by angry youths in his Shelleng Local Government Area.

According to a report made available in The Nation newspaper, Barata was an aspirant in the just concluded All Progressive Congress (APC) primary. He defected to the PDP after he lost the election.

Addressing PDP supporters at Acting Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s campaign rally, the youths shouted him down, sang abusive songs and blocked the way. Efforts to pacify the youths by the state PDP Chairman, Chief Joel Madaki and a prominent figure in the community, Alhaji Mohammed Shelleng proved abortive.

However, Fintiri in his address pledged to build the road linking the community to the main feeder road while Barata, who later got the youths audience described the incident as the handiwork of his enemies, who were threatened by his return to the PDP.
