The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) today arrested the Chairman of Africa Independent Television, Raymomd Dokpesi, over the spreading arms purchase scandal involving the office of the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, and the theft of over N2.1billion from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) just in the last 9 months of the Jonathan administration.
Mr. Dokpesi was arrested shortly after noon, Nigerian time, and whisked to the EFCC, where he is now being interrogated.
Update: Sources say Dasuki made a N 2 billion payment to Dokpesi from the security funds withdrawn election time this year. The payment is suspected to have been for defamatory documentaries AIT produced. The former governor of Sokoto state, Bafarawa was likewise picked up; he too received payments from the NSA’s withdrawals to the tune of N4.6 billion!
Earlier this year at election time, NewsRescue reminded Nigerians on Dokpesi’s links to the Boko Haram-Nigerian government scam. See: SSS: AIT’s Raymond Dokpesi Exchanged Text Messages With Abuja Bombers – BBC
