Gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram Sunday attacked Gumsuri, a village in Damboa LGA of Borno State where they killed 32 people and abducted 185 others, local officials and fleeing residents said.
Among those killed were the Chief Imam of the village and the leader of the youth vigilante, also known as civilian JTF. Many others, especially men, were injured while attempting to repel the invasion by the insurgents, who witnesses said stormed the village in a convoy of vehicles.
It was gathered that married women, girls and children were among those abducted at Gumsuri.
