Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on National Assembly matters, Ita Enang, has declared that President Muhammadu Buhari will assent the 2017 budget despite being away in the United Kingdom on medical vacation.
He made this declaration in a TV interview on Channels TV Wednesday night captured in the video below. The position negates information released by the Vice President’s office that “Acting President Yemi Osinbajo will sign the budget when he approves of it.”
Osinbajo’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, sent out a tweet to that effect yesterday in the midst of controversy on the powers vested in the Acting President.
“Just so we are clear: when the time comes, everything is set, & he is satisfied, Ag. President Yemi Osinbajo will assent to the 2017 Budget,” SSA Akande tweeted Wednesday night.

The SSA said the budget will be transmitted to President Buhari in the UK who will accent it and then transmit it to Acting President Yemi Osinbajo.
“The 2017 budget will be transmitted to Mr president and the President will assent to the budget.
”The acting President is in office and when the budget is transmitted, it will go through the processes and all those other questions will answer itself.”
We earlier published that the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, failed to verify during questioning by State House correspondents, that the Acting President will sign the budget.

The controversy follows the innocuous injection of peculiar terminology, “coordinating” in a letter to the National Assembly signed by Buhari that transferred powers to the Vice President.
NewsRescue contributor, Dr. Perry Brimah had warned that there was a cabal who were bent on obstructing the Vice President from assuming Acting Presidential capacity in order to ensure that in the event of Buhari’s demise or resignation Nigeria will be thrown into a constitutional crises which will enable a coup by northern elements or the Senate president somehow establishing an interim government to then conduct new elections to be won by the northwest. President Muhammadu Buhari had called for the impeachement of then ill, late President Umaru Yar’Adua for not clearly transferring powers to his deputy, Goodluck Jonathan not resigning while not being transparent on his health. Buhari is today in the same Impeachable position as late Yar’Adua, likewise sick, not transparent and in effect, failing to properly transfer powers to his Deputy.
In the event that officials in the Buhari arm of the presidency are boldly attempting to obstruct the constitutional processes, it would be expected that Acting President Yemi Osinabjo sack then to maintain the sanity of the political system and harmony of the Presidency. Chief of Staff Abba Kyari was earlier implicated in the mischievous letter transmission to the NASS.
