An unknown cultist group killed five Rivers State policemen in an ambush in Okobo community, Ahoda West Local Government Area (LGA) of the State on Monday.
Rivers State Police Command spokesman Hammed Mohammed confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters, describing it as tragic and barbaric.
“We are deeply pained by the senseless and barbaric killing of our colleagues, who were ambushed in the early hours of the day. Sadly, today’s tragedy again demonstrated the enormous calamities we face and witness in the course of our job. We put our lives on the line every day to confront crime and violence in our communities.”
The spokesman assured the community that the crime will not go unpunished, saying, “We will stop at nothing to bring the perpetrators of this dastardly act to justice.”
