With much facts nailing Dr. Doyin Okupe, Senior Special Assistant to President Jonathan on Public Matters as the captain of the #BringBackJonathan2015 hash tag, the controversial Reno Omokri, Special Assistant to the President on new media has again denied the claim.
Okupe, while admitting to have parody the #BringBackOurGirls hash tag, Reno debunked claims and excused Okupe as frontier of the insensitive #BringBackJonathan2015 hash tag.
Tweeting via his handle, @renoomokri he said “It is wicked and untruthful for anybody to allege that @doyinokupe started that hash tag. Twitter has history. Don’t be lazy. Do your research.”
It would be recalled that Reno Omokri sent emails to a number of platforms using a pseudo identity – Wendell Simlin. The email sought to link the suspended Governor of Central Bank, Lamido Sanusi, who is now the Emir of Kano to the killings in the North Eastern part of the country.
After the mails were subjected to a property and digital footprint analyses, it became evident that the mail was sent by Reno Omokri. The analyses exposed origin of the Microsoft Word document and also showed the Internet Protocol address of where the mail emanated from.
The expectation of Nigerians was that President Jonathan will terminate the appointment of Mr. Reno for denting the image of the Presidency, but this was denied by Mr. President.
