According to multiple German media reports, six people were killed and at least seven others were seriously injured when gunfire erupted at a Jehovah’s Witness hall in Hamburg’s Alsterdorf district. Around 9 p.m. local time, police were called to the scene.
Police have ordered anyone in the area to “seek shelter in a building immediately,” and local residents to stay at home while the perpetrators are sought.
At the scene, emergency personnel are treating victims. As of Thursday night, a “larger police operation” was underway in Alsterdorf, according to Hamburg Police.
The number of suspects has not yet been released.
