The move by the Adamawa State House of Assembly to impeach Governor Murtala Nyako and his Deputy, Bala Ngilari with a directive to the clerk of the house to serve them with impeachment noticed has been link to the presidency.
According to impeccable sources within the presidency, the Adamawa state lawmakerswere mobilised with millions of Naira to commence the impeachment process against governor Murtala Nyako who has since fallen out of favour with President Goodluck Jonathan when he decamped to the All Progressive Congress (APC) with four other governors.
According to the source, the move to impeach the speaker was made since May after the speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru had audience with some undisclosed aides of the President from Adamawa State.
We authoritatively gathered that he was asked to mobilize his colleagues with the sum of N15 million each to commence the process of impeachment, springing up allegations that they were aware off before this time.
The impeachment process was signed by 19 out of 26 members with the Speaker’s signature curiously missing. The Governor and his deputy were served the notice on Wednesday with some allegations peddle to achieve their aims. The impeachment if successful will see the Speaker becoming the State governor, which he was promised to keep, as he will automatically contest the 2015 guber election in the state.
