Disturbing notices that the Principal of the Government College, Katsina, Mallam Isyaku Bello who verified and released opposition candidate General Buhari’s WASC results, has been killed are floating on the internet. We are following the story and evidence shows he is alive and well.
Someone close to him said:
“It is absolutely not true, am presently in Katsina and my house is only 2 minutes drive from the said secondary school. I confirmed from a colleague of the principal, this story has been going round since a day after the release of GMB result. Thanks”
The principal had reported receiving death threats for doing his duty and releasing the results which ended weeks of hounding of the ex-president and chief opposition contestant.
One of the versions of the story put it that he was killed 24 hrs after he released General Buhari’s results. This cannot be true as we heard from him in the press later than the said time.
It is not certain the Nigerian government and police force provided him any security in spite of him openly reporting the influx of death threats.
He was rather invited by the Ministry of Education for unknown reasons.
It is possible people are manufacturing stories to stir up reactions from the people that may lead to a postponement of the February elections.
