Security agencies should arrest former President Olusegun Obasanjo to unravel the rationale behind his recent letter to President Goodluck Jonathan as a similar letter to former President Shehu Shagari was followed by the 1984 Coup d’etat, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Reloaded and Arise Nigeria said yesterday in Abuja. National coordinators of the two groups Chief Richard Lamai of the PDP Reloaded and Chief Jasper Johnson of the Arise Nigeria were unanimous in saying that the controversial letter was ‘satanic verses’.
Obasanjo had written an 18 page letter to President Jonathan on Dec 2, 2013 accusing him of playing ethnic politics and losing grip of the country’s leadership as well as training snipers to eliminate targeted politicians.

“This accusation can only combust the polity and truncate democracy as we can recall such satanic verses penned by Obasanjo to former President Shehu Shagari and the resultant Coup d’etat; his opprobrium on IBB and falling out with Abacha and his (Obasanjo) eventual linkage to a coup to topple Abacha,” Lamai said.
