Since coming to office on May 29th, 2015 as the governor of oil-rich Rivers state, Nyeson Wike has often fallen asleep during public functions. Sometimes deeply asleep and snoring such that aides have to wake him up so he could catch up with the rest of the events or hurriedly leave to continue sleeping.
The governor has continued to engage in these embarrassing behaviors in the office, churches and public gatherings in the state. Whereas cat naps or power naps could be excused for sleep deprivation for someone being overworked, Mr. Wike’s public sleeping fests might be a symptom of a bigger health issue.
