Six villages were raided by Boko Haram terrorists between Tuesday and Wednesday in ongoing attacks. The destroyed villages included Kopchi, Ngurthlafu, Wassada, Bdagu, Dille and Pumbum. The terrorists who came dressed in military uniforms, with 15 hilux trucks, 25 cars and over 50 motorcycles, shot at everyone in sight and burned down all the buildings in the farming villages in Askira – Uba local government, with borders with Cameroon.

In one village, Dille, the Civilian JTF, a self-defense civilian vigilante force were able to combat the terrorists and apprehended 7 of their men. The civilian JTF in a meeting with the authorities yesterday, sent a request to Nigeria’s president for the right to bear arms, to have better capacity to defend their farming villages being totally wiped out by the terrorists.

According to the reports we received from Mr. Yusuf from an affected village, the villagers have all fled the villages leaving them charred and with only the domesticated animals as signs of life remaining. Some villagers fled into bushes and others ran as far away as Mubi in neighboring Adamawa state.

According to the report, Boko Haram sent a letter to the head of Huyim village in which they promised him his village would be attacked tonight. As at 8 pm local time, we are yet to confirm the promised attack.

This is the second time this same local government is coming under attack of the terrorists in the past few months; Askira Uba was decimated by Boko Haram terrorists in February this year, as Nigeria’s security services have been brought to their knees and continue to remain helpless, unwilling or unable to address the unabating terror.
