Lawyers of IMN Have Filled 2 Suits in a Nigerian Court Seeking Enforcement Sheikh Zakzaky, Wife’s Fundamental RIghts

Following the expiration of a 24 hour warning to the Nigerian authorities, to immediately free blinded Shaikh Zakzaky and his wife Zeenat being held incommunicado and detained without charge for founr months so-far, the lawyers to the Islamic Movement and Sheikh and his wife, led by SAN Femi Falana have reportedly filed two lawsuits against the Nigerian government.

Harun Elbinawi reports: “I was informed yesterday night that Lawyers of IMN had filed 2 suits in a Nigerian court seeking the enforcement of the Fundamental rights of Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife sister Zeenat Ibraheem. For what reason is the Nigerian regime holding Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife in detention incommunicado by denying them their fundamental human rights as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution?”

Sheikh Zakzaky was reported to have been blinded in one eye and on the verge of losing the other. he and his wife were injured badly with several gun shots when the army raided their Gyellesu residence in December of 2015, reportedly killing their three sons in their presence as well as an elder sister of the Sheikh. Zakzaky sustained six gun shots and his wife was shot twice before being carted away on Wheel barrows.
