Dr. Brimah’s January 29th Press Release published here, is attributed to have provoked the consciousness of the only solution to rescuing the Naira and developing industry in Nigeria that was subsequently carried and promoted by Nigerian Senators, Bukola Saraki and Ben Murray-Bruce.
Speaking to our chief editor, Dr. Brimah said,
“We decided on making the MadeInNigeria.ng website since May of last year at the onset of the Buhari new administration. We had held talks with members of the Presidency about the concept and giving us the go-ahead, they promised to set-up necessary mechanisms to foster the culture. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had remarked, “can’t you see what I wear.” Seeing the weakening of the Naira, this January after gathering 7000 faceBook likes and test running the web platform that provided an interface for Nigerians to promote, find and select exclusive Made In Nigeria goods and services, we decided to launch the project and culture this January. We are pleased to see how it has caught on.”
The January Press release sent to various media houses behind the great fever is below:
Launching The Made In Nigeria Revolution Shopping Hub Website
We are happy to introduce the MadeInNigeria.ng shopping hub. It is a web-based platform we have developed and test-launched that focuses on Nigerian products ONLY. Every listing must be 100% or considerably manufactured in Nigeria.
Like Craigslist, MadeInNigeria.ng
The price of oil, our only major export and source of foreign currency has fallen below production costs. Oil is no longer a source of national income and prices are projected to fall even deeper. It is time to drastically shift. We must face a new paradigm and we need to enthusiastically embrace this new reality. The time for wearing foreign designer brands is over; it is the time for Nigerian manufacturers. It is time to make our own and to patronize our own.
We invite Nigerians to join us and unroll productions that will spur the Made-In-Nigeria
Let’s get kicking on MadeInNigeria.ng.
