The Presidency has reportedly commenced a discreet investigation into how the call which was made on Tuesday, March 31, got to become public property.
According to Ynaija, the audio of the conversation surfaced on the internet on Thursday, via a Twitter handle- @EveryNigerian.
The media also revealed that a government official revealed to Punch newspapers that a thorough investigation will be conducted into the leak and that the first step was to determine whether the recording was leaked from the Presidency or was made public from the President-elect’s camp.
“Definitely, unauthorised release of a raw recording of the President’s telephone conversation, if from our (Presidency’s) end is a security breach that cannot go without being investigated,” the source said.
Jonathan called Buhari even moments before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the APC candidate as the winner of the election.
