REPLENISHED: Multiple Suicide Bomb Attacks Kill 17, Injure 11 In Maiduguri – Police

The Borno State Police Command, on Monday, confirmed that 17 persons were killed in multiple bomb attacks on Sunday night by Boko Haram terrorists at a village near Maiduguri, the state capital. The Police disclosed that the attacks also left 11 persons injured.

The confirmation was made in a statement issued on by Mr. Victor Isuku, Borno State Police Command Public Relations Officer.

According to the statement, five female bombers detonated Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) strapped to their bodies at about 8.30pm at Kofa community along Maiduguri-Konduga Road, some eight kilometers from the state capital.

“The first suicide bomber detonated the IED near a mosque, killing seven persons. The second detonated in a house killing five persons. While two other suicide bombers detonated within the same vicinity, killing themselves. A total of 17 persons, including the five suicide bombers, died, while 11 persons sustained injuries and were rushed to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH),” the statement said.

SaharaReporters’ correspondent, who visited the scene, saw grieving families and friends of the dead and injured gazing forlornly at the carnage left behind.

But Mr. Lawan Tijjani Dalorima, the District Head of Dalori, gave slightly different figures of the casualties. According to him, 13 persons were killed, while 14 others sustained injuries.

“As you can see, women and children are crying after evil people came and killed my people last night. Thirteen persons were killed and 14 were injured. Now, everyone is panicking,” Mr. Dalorima said.
