Sequel to the All Progressive Congress (APC) Governors meeting in Ilorin on Wednesday, where it was reported that the Federal Government was secretly funding the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) states to the detriment of the APC states, Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau state and his Niger State counterpart, Babangida Aliyu, have denied the claim.

The duo stated this at the Presidential Villa in Abuja after attending a meeting of the National Economic Council.

Governor Jang faulted the APC Governors assertion, saying it’s tantamount to mere play of politics. He mentioned further that all the 36 states were experiencing the negative effects of dwindling federal allocation.

His words: It is not true that the Federal Government is funding only the PDP states. It is not true.”

Governor Aliyu, also corroborated his counterpart, saying there was no iota of truth in the APC governor’s assertion.

He stressed that in order to reduce reliance on monthly allocations from the Federal Government, state governments should increase their Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) drive.
