The Invisible Empire And The Voters Of Change, By Terfa Naswem

Thomas Woodrow Wilson was the 28th President of the United States from 1913 to 1921 and leader of the Progressive Movement.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt, commonly known by his initials FDR, was an American statesman and political leader who served as the 32nd President of the United States from 1933 to 1945.

Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt once said:

“The government, which was designed for the people, has got into the hands of the bosses and their employers, the special interests. An invisible empire has been set up above the forms of democracy”.
—Woodrow Wilson

“Let us never forget that government is ourselves and not an alien power over us. The ultimate rulers of our democracy are not a President and senators and congressmen and government officials, but the voters of this country”.
—Franklin D. Roosevelt

From the above quotes, the first reflects what happened in Jonathan’s government and the second reflects the CHANGE that has taken place when Nigerian voters decided in 2015 general elections that they are truly the government by voting massively for BUHARI in All Progressives Congress (APC) among other candidates.

Just like Woodrow’s quote, under Jonathan’s government, the government is designed for people such as Diezani K. Alison-Madueke, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, among others for their special interests. They truly formed an invisible empire which is above the forms of democracy by promoting corruption with impunity.

Just like Franklin’s quote, Nigerians were angry with the government and decided that they the voters are the government and voted out Jonathan and PDP to institute a new government that will take the welfare of the whole as a priority.
