NewsRescue- Another gruesome honor killing in Pakistan as parents kill their 15 year old daughter by pouring acid on her for looking at a boy who passed by on a motor bike.
The parents Mohammad Zafar and his wife, Zaheen, according to the BBC article on November 5th are now in adjoining cells in jail for the act which transpired on October 29th.
“She said, ‘I didn’t do it on purpose. I won’t look again.’ By then I had already thrown the acid. It was her destiny to die this way,” the girl’s mother told the BBC reporter.
Allegedly the parents had suffered similar dishonor from their older daughter and hence had a lower threshold for such behavior.
Honor or rather dis-honor killings are predominant in Asia, and over 5000 yearly cases are reported in Brazil, India, Pakistan and other nations.
The sick behavior comes from families believing that their ‘great name’ will be diminished when people hear about indecent acts or acts of lewdness by their kith and kin.
