Kenya swore in seven female governors on Thursday, following elections earlier in the month.

45 of the East African country’s newly elected regional governors are women.

According to reports, over 20 female candidates ran for governorship positions. Judges appointed by Kenya’s first female Chief Justice, Martha Koome, swore in the governors.

“I commit to satisfactory service delivery, an all-inclusive government geared toward realizing remarkable milestones in good governance and development,” Gladys Wanga, one of the new governors, tweeted following her inauguration.

“May God bless Kenya and Homabay.”
