The Supervising Minister of Health, Dr. Khaliru Alhassan has raised the alarm over inadequate workforce and dearth of doctors in the health sector.

The Minister said this in Abuja yesterday, after paying an unscheduled visit to the National Hospital, Federal Staff Medical Centre and Maitama General Hospital.

Alhassan warned that the current trend pose an ominous danger to national development.

On his impression on the hospitals he visited, Alhassan said they have challenges in the area of doctors and assured that the ministry would work on adding more manpower to ensure that there is adequate personnel to carry out the task effectively.

His words: “We don’t need to go anywhere overseas. We have professionals to do the job and we are sure that medical tourism will soon be a thing of the past because of the transformation agenda of Mr. President.”
