The just concluded Lagos state council election was marred by low turn out of voters across the state.
Our correspondents who monitored the election across the state reported a low turn out of voters, stating the heavy rainfall and political apathy amongst the people as the reason for low participation.
Many of the voters who came out despite bad weather condition decried the general attitude of the people towards the council election.
Some party officials attributed the low participation to inadequate electoral awareness on the part of the Lagos state Independent Electoral Commission ( LASIEC ).
One of the voters who identified himself simply as Emmanuel expressed disappointment in the attitude of the people.
“I am basically disappointed because the turn out is low. Maybe because it is local government and councillorship, I don’t know but there is a low turn out generally and I am disappointed” he said.
