Suspected members of dreaded of Boko Haram sect on Friday morning invaded Mussa ‘B’ villages of Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno state killing 29 residents with several others sustained gunshot wounds.
This is even as some group of terrorists stormed Koshabe village near Zabarmari village, an outskirts of Maiduguri Metropolis on Friday evening, shooting sporadically targeting residents as people of Maiduguri scsmper for safety.
At press time, the attack on Koshabe village was still going on as hundreds of residents flee into Maiduguri for safety, hence, the number of casualty was unknown.
The Koshabe attacks took place at about 4:30pm, while the Mussa B attacks happened 1pm on same day.
The terrorists also set ablaze unspecified number of residential houses before sacking the whole communities.
Residents said the insurgents who came from Wimiradi Ngawdang communities were fleeing from an aerial bombardment by troops before they ran into Musa B villages and unleashed terror.
Askira Uba is a border town between Borno and Adamawa State while Mussa village is 36 kilometers west of the border of Askira town, while Koshabe village is east and about 15 kilometres drive from Maiduguri metropolis
Sunday Wabba, the chairman of Mussa Youth Development Association told newsmen on phone that the terrorists stormed the area around 1 pm.
“Another disaster has befallen us today because the terrorists have attacked our village and killed everyone on sight. They operated till around 3pm before they left.
“So far, we have counted the bodies of 29 people and many others sustained injuries.
“This is the fourth time they are attacking this year,” he said.
Vigilante Umoru Jantiku said the attackers were large in number.
“They came in broad day light and opened fire on unsuspecting people. We are now preparing to recover corpses from the bushes but so far, 29 people have been confirmed dead,” he said.
A middle aged woman who lost her husband said today is the saddest day in her life.
“Today is a sad day for me. My husband, Sama’ila Bade was a harmless man but the terrorists killed him without any just cause,” she said.
The attacks in Mussa and Koshabe were launched after similar ones in Kukawa and Monguno Local Government Areas of Borno State that claimed lives of 145 people
