DPR Seals 2 Petrol Stations Selling Above Official Pump Price in Kwara

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Kwara Branch, on Saturday sealed two petrol stations in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara for selling above the official pump price.

The State Controller of the DPR, Mr Philip Salvation, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin.

He listed the affected stations as AB Lawal Petroleum and De- Oduwoye brothers limited petrol both located at Oshogbo road in Offa Local Government Area of the state.

He said the petrol stations were engaged in over-pricing, under-delivering and tampering with DPR under sealed.

He also said that the stations were suspended for one month and will pay a fine of N2million each.

“This will serve as a deterrent to other marketers; these fuel stations have to be sealed for 1 month and will pay a fine of N2million each.

“Letters have been written to that effect, they will not be allowed to lift fuel in Ilorin depot and from Lagos depot,” he said.

On the speculations by Independent marketers in the state that they are buying fuel at the rate of N90 per litre, the controller said, “these marketers are encouraging black market by patronising private depots.”

The government depot is N77.66k and on every litre government has paid subsidy, so that Nigerians can buy these product at the regulated price.

“We can’t fold our hands and see government policies being flouted because it is through laws that enabling environment can be created for enterprise to flourish,” he added.

According to him, all these private depots that are caught flouting government regulated price have been sealed by the DPR.

“We will insist on enforcing government’s regulatory price and thee is no going back.

“I will not allow the masses of this place to be cheated by applying strict regulations on the marketers,” he said.
