Update: Scores reported dead

A bomb has just exploded at the Mosque of the Emir’s palace of Kano, the Central Mosque, Friday with faithful gathered for Friday Juma’ah prayers.

There are no details of causalities yet, according to Alhassan Haruna Dambatta, reporting for NewsRescue. Many are feared dead.

Attempts on the Emirate have been expected by Boko Haram following his call for Nigerians to defend themselves by any means against Boko Haram which has supported efforts and a massive movement of civilian forces that have been reversing Boko Haram’s gains.

The Nigerian state security services have failed to protect Nigerian citizens and traditional and public office holders; this has commonly led to the fear and reluctance of leaders to openly denounce Boko Haram for fear of threat on their life. HRH Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II defied these boundaries by making the brave call as Nigerians became more desperate under Boko Haram success and the Jonathan government declaring a cease fire to allow the terrorists conquer more of Nigeria.

Nigeria’s police are said to be more busy engaging in politics and bullying as well as “screening” vigilantes than providing needed security for the people.
