Breaking News: Boko Haram Taking Over Maiduguri, Surrounds Capital

The dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram has ‘completely surrounded’ Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

Agence France-Presse, an international news agency had quoted theMaiduguri’s elders via its twitter handle, @AFP to have said that: “Boko Haram have ‘completely surrounded’ Nigeria’s Maiduguri, say elders.”

Capital Under Siege As Boko Haram Takes Over

Maiduguri is now under siege. There are only two roads left, one leading to northern Borno and out of Nigeria is still free and the second road leading to Damaturu/Bauchi, which is still free; all other three roads into and out of the capital have been blocked with their bridges bombed.

There is a bridge in Ganzarma, in Yobe State, once this bridge is taken out, then the Damaturu axis will be out and Maiduguri will only have the northern exit point left.

Boko Haram has recently intensified its offensive in the north-east especially in Adamawa State. Just recently, the dreaded sect overran Gulak community and its environs in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa. Another major town, Michika, also in the state, fell to the insurgents a day after. The insurgents are said to be going round Michika selecting choice properties which they take over. Occupants of such properties who resist them are killed, resident said.

Other towns where Boko Haram are said to have taken over include Gwoza, Kala Balge, Dikwa, Ngala and Marte.

The sect is also headed towards Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State.
