When a woman went to the hospital, it was discovered that she had dozens of batteries up her bum and in her stomach.

The 66-year-old patient had 55 batteries in her body, according to medical staff at St. Vincent’s University Hospital in Dublin.

After an X-ray revealed foreign objects in her body, the batteries were discovered.

Doctors hoped she would pass them naturally because they were not obstructing her gastrointestinal tract, according to Live Science.

According to the Irish Medical Journal, the woman was able to deposit five AAs in the first week, but the rest were stuck.

Doctors discovered her distended stomach was hanging above the pubic bone due to the weight of the batteries when she began to experience stomach cramps.

Surgeons intervened and extracted 46 of the remaining batteries, leaving four trapped in her colon.

According to the Huffington Post, doctors “milked” them into her rectum to remove them from her anus.

This brought her total battery consumption to 55 AA and AAA batteries.
