NewsRescue- The Catholic Church has called for this Saturday to be a global day of fasting and praying for peace.

The Vatican has invited ambassadors accredited to the Holy See to attend a briefing today on the Popeâs agenda for the four-hour vigil on Saturday night. Bishops around the world have also announced plans to host local versions of the vigil.
Joining with the Church, the Sunni Muslim leader of Syria, Grand Mufti Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun, called for Syrians to join in the prayers.
The spiritual leader of the world’s Orthodox Church, Constantinople Bartholomew I, also recommended the Catholic prayer.

Pope Francis tweeted, which are the same words used by previous popes after the Second World War, including Pope John Paul II who published the same phrase in his calls for peace in Bosnia after 911 and in Iraq.
CNN noted that this is a first where a Pope is making such strong call before and not after the war.
The Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon has also strongly objected to any Unilateral military invasion of Syria.
