Over 4.4 million Nigerians, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Human Affairs, have been impacted by floods since July 2022.

The report also mentioned that flooding in the nation caused at least 2.4 million people to be displaced. Additionally, it was noted that more than half of the displaced people were Bayelsans.
Over 2.4 million people have been displaced as a result of flooding in Nigeria, which has affected over 4.4 million people since July. Bayelsa State contains more than half of these.
The report acknowledged the loss of cropland and bemoaned the possibility of severe food insecurity in the nation as a result.
“Approximately 676,000 hectares of cropland have been damaged,” it read. The recent crop damage and restricted revenue access run the risk of escalating emergency food insecurity in the coming months.
The organization stated that “Housing, access to clean water and sanitation, food, health care, and measures to prevent or address disease outbreaks like cholera” remain the top humanitarian needs.
