It could be recalled that, Buni Yadi in Yobe State is one of the local government areas of the state where the insurgents took control after displacing the military in an encounter about two months ago.

A resident of the area and member of the royal family in Buni told DailyPost that they were expecting that the military would engage the insurgents after Sallah to reclaim the area.

“However, this morning, we were informed of the engagement of the insurgents by the military in a fierce battle to reclaim the area.

“Last night, we were told that the insurgents had come into Buni Yadi with over thirty Hilux Vans loaded with fighters and different kinds of weapons, possibly with the aim of attacking the state capital but for the restriction of movement by the security operatives to ensure hitch free Sallah celebration in the state”, he disclosed.
