The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, retired General Muhammadu Buhari, said Wednesday, that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has played its last card by shifting the general elections from February 14 and 28 to March 28 and April 11.
Buhari spoke while receiving delegations of the United Nations and African Union in Abuja yesterday.
“INEC has played its last card and it is still within the constitution,” Buhari said.
He assured the African Union of absolute respect for the rule of law by the APC, saying he hoped other parties would respect the rule of law.
The UN delegation was led by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s representative in West Africa, Mr Muhammed Ibn Chambas while the AU was led by Dr Aisha Abdullahi.
Chambas commended Buhari on his smooth and transparent primary election, peaceful campaign rallies and his call for peace after the postponement of the polls.
The UN representative encouraged peace through the electoral process, hoping that Nigeria will be an example to other African nations.
The AU representative reiterated the need for prayers for peace in Nigeria and all the other countries holding elections.
The international delegations were received by Buhari and his running mate Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.
