Damasak town in Mobbar local government is located near the confluence of the Yobe River and Komadugu Gana River, adjoining the border with Niger republic.

No reason has been given for Niger’s promised withdrawal. Niger is part of a Multi-national joint Task force and has recently pledged to cooperate with the Nigerian government. There has been no draft of Nigerian troops to take over Damasak before Niger withdraws and no attention from the Nigerian military or assistance to the people to evacuate ahead of being left alone and susceptible to ravaging Boko Haram terrorists. We were unable to get comment from the military as at the time of this report.
