Just last week on 14 August, a number of people were abducted by insurgents from Dogon Baga in Borno State. The number of the people was later verified as 97 among which youths, children and old men made up the number. The abducted people were later believed to have been moved in mid night to Chad Republic.
On 17 August just 3 days after the incidence, the Chadian forces freed the abducted without a single casualty. The abducted people were later reunited with their families after spending a brief time in Chad Republic.
That reminds us of the similitude of Chibok girls abduction. It is now over 122 days since the abduction of the innocent girls. Their whereabouts are still unknown as government, international and public attention has been diverted to Ebola outbreak in West Africa.
The parents of those girls and some selected compatriots remain still in grief over the inability of Nigeria’s federal government to locate the girls despite foreign involvement in the operation.
For any government serious and determined, any attempt by any individual to steal public peace and security is vehemently opposed by that government as that is it’s main purpose.
The Federal government of Nigeria must redouble its effort to regain its lost image depleted by corruption, immorality and secrecy in running public affairs. That will be an imperative move to help Nigeria stay beyond 2015.
